If your Institution has integrated Echo360 with Microsoft OneDrive, you will see a OneDrive settings option in your Account Settings page, as shown in the below figure.
The OneDrive Settings page allows you to "subscribe" to any of your OneDrive folders and SharePoint Sites. These subscriptions tell Echo360 to copy any audio or video media added to those folders into your Echo360 Library. This includes Teams meetings if your institution is also integrated with Microsoft Teams.
Keep in mind, however, that you do NOT have to be using Teams to set up a OneDrive Subscription. You simply need to have access to a OneDrive installation/SharePoint site where you maintain your media files. And of course, your administrator needs to have configured the integration with your institution and Microsoft OneDrive.
Each OneDrive Subscription allows you to map the folder to an Echo360 course section if you want to, automatically creating classes to hold the media in the mapped section.
Once you subscribe to a OneDrive folder, you can tell Echo360 where you want the recordings or other video/audio media in the folder to go. ALL copied media goes to your Library; the Echo360 mapping option simply allows you to also publish it to an Echo360 section.
Keep in mind the following when subscribing Echo360 to a OneDrive folder:
- Media is NOT automatically copied over until you subscribe to one or more folders.
- Only media that is written to the subscribed OneDrive folder AFTER you configure your subscription will be copied into Echo360; existing media is not automatically ingested.
- If you want existing Teams meetings to be ingested to Echo360, you can:
- Subscribe to the channel through Echo360,
- Download the meeting file(s) from the Teams channel Recordings folder
- Re-upload them to the Teams channel Recordings folder (replacing the originals).
These steps also apply to any SharePoint folder where media files reside; downloading and re-uploading the same file generates a "new version" in SharePoint and triggers the ingest into Echo360.
- If you subscribe to a Channel folder in a Teams/SharePoint site, Echo360 will pull ALL audio/video media written to the Channel folder and any sub-folders that reside there.
- If you subscribe to a OneDrive folder (outside of Teams/SharePoint) then you must put the media into a sub-folder; Echo360 IGNORES any files written to the root level. This means you can add media files to the root of the OneDrive folder, then select which files also get copied to Echo360 by copying or moving them to sub-folders.
- Only video or audio files supported by Echo360 will be copied from OneDrive; Echo360 does not ingest presentation media. Teams meetings are *.mp4 files and as such are supported by Echo360.

- All media copied into Echo360 appears in your Library. Your subscription mapping determines whether or not it appears anywhere in addition to your Library.
- Mapping a OneDrive folder to an Echo360 course section tells Echo360 to create new lessons/classes in that section for each media file copied over and published. The class name will be the same as the media file name OR the Teams Meeting name if applicable.
You can change the class name, date, or time at any time if necessary.
Each OneDrive folder subscription can be deleted when it is no longer needed. Use the Trash Can icon for each entry to delete the subscription. Media files from those folders are no longer copied into Echo360.
Be advised that the below procedure uses a subscription to a Teams SharePoint Site > Channel folder to show the process. However, you don't have to be using Teams. You can subscribe to any OneDrive or SharePoint site folder your institution user has access to. The video and audio media placed into subscribed folders will be copied into Echo360 as you configure.
To subscribe to a OneDrive folder for automatic copy into Echo360
- Log into/enter Echo360 in the manner you typically do - by logging in, through Microsoft Teams or through your Institution portal.
- Click the Settings icon in the top right corner, and select Account Settings. This is shown in the figure at the top of the page.
- Click OneDrive Settings from the left side of the page. This is also shown in the figure at the top of the page.
- Click Add OneDrive Subscription. You may be asked to log into Microsoft if you are not already authenticated.
A popup modal appears listing the top level folders and SharePoint sites you have access to. In the below figure, notice that the Sites listed for selection correspond with each Microsoft Team this instructor-user is an Owner of. The color-coding shows the correlation between the two lists.
- Select the folder or site you want to subscribe to, then click Next.
- Select the sub-folder or Channel you want to subscribe to.
Notice that the channels in the selected site correspond to the folder selections provided for subscribing. All media files INSIDE of folders in the selected folder/channel will be automatically copied into Echo360 with this subscription. The color-coding again shows the correlation between the two lists.
- Click Save.
Your subscription appears in the list, along with any others you may have already configured.
- If you want the copied media, meetings, etc. to be auto-published into an Echo360 section, click the drop-down list for the subscription and select the section you want, as shown below.
The list of sections is divided by Term.
- Repeat the above steps to add more subscriptions to your Echo360 account and map them as needed.
As stated above, any new media files added to the subscribed sites/folders will be automatically copied into Echo360. Those media always appear in your Echo360 Library. If mapped, they are also written to new classes created in the mapped Echo360 course sections.
The below figure shows the Files tab in the General channel of the subscribed to OneDrive site from the above procedure. Notice the Recordings folder in the channel. This folder is created after you launch (AND record!) your first Teams meeting in the channel. It contains the recordings of all Teams meetings launched and recorded from this channel.
Opening the Recordings folder shows the meeting recordings contained inside of it.
Since this channel subscription was mapped to an Echo360 section, the course section now contains two classes, one for each of the ingested meeting recordings, as shown below.
Finally, the relationship between the OneDrive folders and Echo360 can be a many-to-one relationship. Using the above example with OneDrive subscriptions to Teams SharePoint Site folders, you can subscribe to EACH of the channels in the site, but have them all write into the same Echo360 section. This can be useful if you use the different Channels in the Team for different types of classes or for different Instructors, but they all correlate to the same Echo360 section.
And remember, as stated at the top of this page, you do NOT have to be using Teams to set up a OneDrive Subscription. You simply need to have access to a OneDrive installation or SharePoint site where you maintain your media files. And of course, your administrator needs to have configured the integration with your institution and Microsoft OneDrive.
